Platelet Rich Plasma is an effective therapy that is showing us great results in the following areas:
- Acute and chronic tendonitis Eg. Biceps, shoulder, archilles tendonitis, patellar tendonitis (jumper’s knee), and golfer’s and tennis elbow. plantar fasciitis.
- Knee arthritis
- Sports injuries including muscle strain and muscle injury.
- Back injury and chronic pain
- Coccyndynia (patients in our practice seeing results)
How does it work:
Platelets contain growth factors in high concentrations. This speeds up healing of the affected area.
How is it done:
Your doctor draws blood and spins it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the blood cells. The part continuing the platelets is removed and injected into the area of pain.
Is it painful?
The area is treated with local anesthetic at times.
Other times it is injected directly into the area.
Real life results:
I was put off work from an injury to my foot. 3 different painkillers every day brought me no relief. I tried everything: physio, chiropractic, massage. Medication, anti-inflammatories.
I still could not walk.
Dr. Iyer assessed me and asked me to follow a special way of eating. She also prescribed some nutrients that would help me.
By the next day I could put weight on my foot.
I didn’t need to take any painkillers and within the first 5 days my pain went from a 12 out of 10 to less than 4 if I walked, and ZERO if I am at rest.
Do the diet. Take the supplements. It took me only one treatment to get the result and be pain free.
“I had a long standing tendon pain in my shoulder that stopped me from weightlifting.
I went back to lifting 2 days after my treatment because the pain was completely gone (even though I was to rest my shoulder for 2 weeks)”
“I had pain in my elbow tendon (Brachia-radialis) for 6 months. Nothing helped.
I work out about 2 hours a day and I needed to keep at it, but every workout exacerbated my pain. The pain was there at rest and I just wanted it to go away.
1 PRP treatment into the tendon and my pain was gone the next day.”
Chad had 2 years of elbow pain. Had surgery, and still pain.
It limited my working out and having pain all the time is not cool. I felt great relief after my first PRP treatment. I’m back to get my other tendons around my elbow treated now so I can work out full on again. It’s totally worth it to get it done and be able to do whatever I want again.
